Taught by people who hold the job

How the Institute selects faculty — practising spa directors, med spa operators, salon owners and retreat managers — and how experienced professionals apply to teach.

Every course is led by someone who holds, or has recently held, the role it teaches: a spa director for the Diploma, a med spa operations director and nurse-manager for Medical Spa Operations, a salon owner for Salon Management, a retreat manager for the retreat course. Faculty are named on each cohort's page when the cohort is announced, with their current or most recent role.

Selection

Minimum five years in the role, with results we can verify by reference. Faculty teach from their own numbers and documents; they mark assignments personally; they are paid per cohort and hold no equity in the Institute, which keeps the assessment honest.

Mentors

Each learner is assigned a mentor — a certified manager or faculty member — for the length of the course. Mentors review the operating plan and take one call a month.

Apply to teach

If you run a spa, a med spa, a salon group or a retreat and can teach one module from your own experience, we want to hear from you. Send your role, property and the module you would teach to support@instituteofspamanagement.com.
